BROWN, Mary Margaret (Wilson)
April 4, 1951 - February 5, 2013
Lover of life and all creatures great and small, the inimitable Mary Brown passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Placerville, CA.
Mary leaves behind her loving husband, Ron Wermes; and his daughters, Kimberly Hettrick (husband, Josh), Julie Holt (husband, Justin); and also Ron's grandchildren, Raina Jenkins and Gavin Hettrick and Kerrigan, Tanner, and Ledger Holt. Mary also leaves behind her favorite (and only) big sissie, Jackie Turner; her brother-in-law, Lee Turner; her niece, Tracy Turner-Ojeda (husband, Francisco ) and her great nephew, Tadeo Sebastian Ojeda. She is also survived by her aunt, Phyllis Wilson; and her cousins, Marc Wilson (wife April), Tim Wilson, and Lani Dibble (husband Harry).
Mary was predeceased by her mother, Stella Bashta Wilson in 1999 and her father, John Melvin Wilson in 2008.
Mary was born and raised in Eureka. She moved to Sacramento and worked herself up to the position of Staff Services Manager I with the Department of Health Services. She retired in 2007.
Mary had an exuberance about her that was contagious. She was the 'Diva' of the golf course and the golf tournament organizer par excellence. Golf was her favorite sport. She also loved the thrill of flying. She earned her pilot's license and enjoyed having each of her parents as passengers.
Mary never met a microphone that she didn't like. One of her passions was singing karaoke, especially her favorite song, 'Crazy.'
All of us who have known and loved Mary Brown remember that she was one of a kind. She loved the color purple, animal prints, flamingos, elephants and pinot grigio wine. She filled our hearts and lives with love and joy and left us all too soon.
Please join us to celebrate her life on Sunday March 3, 2013, from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Elk's Lodge in Shingle Springs, 3821 Quest Court. Memorial contributions may be made to PAWS, Miranda's Rescue, the Sequoia Humane Society or any other charity benefitting animals.
