Norman Dean Schanche

Norman Dean Schanche was born in Hempstead, NY, July 7, 1924 and entered into rest in Folsom, CA, December 19, 2012 at the age of 88. As a career Army Officer serving in WWII and the European theater, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Silver Star. After WWII he worked for the CIA until the Korean War when he returned to active duty rising to the rank of full Colonel, Army Military Intelligence. After retiring he consulted in Anne Arundel County, MD, and moved to Folsom in 1998. Colonel Schanche is survived by his wife of 37 years Lillian (Earl, Rau); daughter Janet Hale (Johnny), Tucson, AZ; stepdaughter Sharen Denham (Robert), Sacramento; and stepson Richard Rau (Laurie), Newport, OR. He was predeceased by his stepson Philip Rau (Cathy) also of Newport, OR. He leaves behind three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in the spring. No services at his request.
