Tim Contreras, born January 9, 1930, passed peacefully in his sleep February 16, 2014, at a residential care home in Elk Grove, where he had been living for the past 5 years as he struggled with dementia and, ultimately, Alzheimers. Tim was raised in Sinton, TX with his mother, father and 10 siblings. He joined the Air Force in 1951, and served his country, primarily as Flight Engineer for 39 years. Tim was a Life Member of VFW
Post 1660. Upon retiring, Tim dedicated his life to his Lord, starting a Spanish Ministry at Parkway Church of Christ, and then a food program that fed thousands of needy families for 15 years. He was a dedicated husband to Lillian for 50 years, who preceded him in death in 2008, and a good father to John, who also preceded him in death in 1994. He is survived by his daughter Julie, son-in-law Robert, grandsons Austin and Ryan, 3 siblings who live in Texas, and countless cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be held for Tim Saturday, March 15th at 10:30am at the Parkway Church of Christ, 5511 Tangerine Ave., Sacramento.
