Died on 12/15/12 in Folsom, CA, after an intense battle with cancer. William was born 2/9/1927 in Chula Vista, CA, to William and Veva Haynes. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vearl (O'Conner); daughter Cheri (Steve Hill) and son Larry (Katja Hoehn) and grandchildren: Michael and Kelli Hill (Gabe Kent); and Eric and Stefan Haynes; and a brother, Allan. Bill served his country as a Hospital Corpsman in WWII
and the Korean War
. He graduated from San Diego State College. He retired in 1983 after 30 years with the California Youth Authority where he positively affected the lives of those in his case load. Bill was a co-owner of Sutter Street Emporium in Historic Folsom for 25 years. He loved backpacking, hiking, and camping in the High Sierra with his family, hiking friends, and the Boy and Girl Scout troops he lead. He also enjoyed nature photography, woodworking, and oil painting landscapes & portraits. A Celebration of Life will be held at Green Valley Mortuary in Folsom on 12/28/12 at 2pm.
