VASQUEZ, Manuel J.
Died in Paktika Province, Afghanistan on April 24, 2012 (age 22) while serving his country as a Specialist 'Infantryman' in the United States Army. He was born on July 3, 1989 in West Sacramento, California. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Lee Castro, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Violet Castro of West Sacramento; his father Raymond J. Vasquez, II and stepmother Tracy Talamantes of Citrus Heights; his brothers, Raymond J. Vasquez, III, Xzavier Vasquez, Marcus R. Vasquez and wife Vanessa Vasquez; his sisters, Priscilla Castro and Mary Vasquez; his niece Melina Salazar; nephews, Joaquin Jara and Marcus Vasquez, Jr.; his grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The pride that family and friends felt for Manuel, who served our country admirably, cannot be measured. He will truly be missed by all of his family and friends and will be remembered as a gentle, kind, loving man that loved his family and country. There will be a visitation for family and friends on May 4, 2012, 4pm-8pm at River Cities Funeral Chapel, 910 Soule Street, West Sacramento, CA. Funeral Services will be held on May 5, 2012 at 1pm at St. Rose Catholic Church, 5961 Franklin Blvd, Sacramento, CA with a burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 6700 21st Avenue, Sacramento, CA.
