Margaret BEAVER Obituary

BEAVER, Margaret Lucille (Boyer)

It is with sadness that the family of Margaret Lucille Beaver (Boyer) announce her passing on May 23, 2013 at the age of 96. Raised in Fresno, Margaret graduated from Fresno High in 1935 where she was Commissioner of Social Affairs and an active Alpha Theta. She attended the University of Missouri and Fresno State, where she met her future husband, David Beaver, who preceded her in death in 1999 after 61 years of marriage. Margaret followed Dave to Pensacola and Corpus Christi during World War II taking her three young children with her. After the war they settled in Richmond and then moved to San Leandro where they put down roots and raised their family.

Margaret's life was centered on her husband, her four children, and later her grandchildren. She was an active hostess for Dave, a den mother for her sons, and a Blue Bird and Camp Fire leader for her daughters. She welcomed many into her home over the years, including San Leandro Beavers' swimmers, foreign exchange students, her children's many friends, her tennis friends and her extended family. She loved to shop.

Margaret was a gracious hostess, avid tennis player, supportive of her children's school and extracurricular activities, adventuresome, loved RV'ing, and always had a smile. She learned to teach swimming, hand made braided rugs and set a beautiful table. After Dave retired, they moved to Santa Cruz where they owned Beaver's Swimming and Tennis Club. In 1979 they sold the club and moved to Cameron Park where they lived until Dave's death. In the last few years of her life, Margaret was cared for by her daughters, Nancy & Peggy, her granddaughter Debi and her beloved son-in-law, Ron.

Margaret is survived by her four children: Peggy (Ron) Tapping of Sacramento; Nancy Mathias, Eugene, Oregon; Dick (Noel) Beaver, Graeagle; and Ken (JoAnn) Beaver, Albuquerque; grandchildren Ann, Debi, Lania, Derick, Alex, Michael, Shelley, and Erika, and four great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held in Sacramento on June 29th at 11:30 a.m. at the Sacramento Hostel, 925 H Street, Sacramento, CA 95814. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's name be made to the Santa Rosa Academy gymnasium building fund, c/o Lania Beaver Padilla, 40253 Balboa, Temecula, CA 92591 or Sacred Heart Hospice, Eugene, Oregon.
