Mrs. Ann DeVries passed away peacefully at age 88 on Sunday, August 25, 2013. A resident of north Sacramento since marrying John DeVries and immigrating from England to the U.S. as a WWII bride, Ann was Supervisor of Admissions at American River College throughout the 1970's. She distinguished herself as a lifelong community volunteer before and after retirement, serving the Children's Receiving Home for 10 years, and the Citrus Heights Sheriff's Department. Ann is survived by her daughter Penny DeVries of San Francisco, Vicki DeVries of Washington, daughter-in-law Lisa DeVries, grandchildren Savoy Hallinan, Brendan Hallinan and John-Paul DeVries, great grandchildren Bianca, Elyse, and Conor Hallinan. Her husband Johnny and son Tom preceded her in death. She is beloved by many friends and extended family members in Roseville, Granite Bay, and Citrus Heights. Her good humor and loving ways will be missed by all who knew her.
