Ben passed away surrounded by his family on Dec. 16, 2012 at aged 86. Born on May 18, 1926 in Sacramento to John and Mary Semoni from Korcula, Yugoslavia. Ben attended CK McClatchy High School, proudly served in the Army in the Second World War and earned the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon with one bronze star, and a World War II Victory Ribbon. Ben married Mary DeKellis of New Jersey in 1949. The couple was married for 63 years and resided in Sacramento. Ben worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 44 years.
Survived by Mary, his devoted wife, and son Wayne and his lifetime partner Sue Muschetto, daughter, Carolyn Sojak and husband Darko of Eugene, OR, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Baker, Frances Clayton, and his brothers John Jr. and Anthony Sr., all of Sacramento. Ben was a loving husband and father, known to be generous and warmhearted. He was always there for his friends and family and will be greatly missed. Friends are invited to attend the rosary on Weds., Dec. 26, 2012 at 7 PM at George L. Klumpp, Chapel of Flowers at 2691 Riverside Boulevard in Sacramento. Graveside services will be held on Thurs., Dec. 27, 2012 at 11:30 AM at the Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, located at 5810 Midway Road in Dixon.
