Dr. Carl Everett Drake, Sr. died peacefully of natural causes at his home in Sacramento on December 27th, 2012. He was 99. Dr. Drake was born on August 21, 1913. He attended Morgan State College in Baltimore, MD where he earned All-American honors in football, and met Beatrice Hayes who became his loving wife of 70 years, until she passed away in 2008. He received his MD from Meharry Medical College and completed residency in Psychiatry in New Jersey before moving to Sacramento in 1958, working first for the California Department of Mental Health, and later in private practice. His psychiatric private lasted over 50 years. He was still seeing patients in mid-December. Dr. Carl Drake was universally admired, respected, and loved. He is survived by four children, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, and thousands of patients. He lived to see his 100th Christmas; he leaves the world a better place. Memorial services are Saturday January 26, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Morgan Jones Mortuary Chapel, 4200 Broadway, Sacramento.
