KAUK, Carl Wayne
Age 84, of Galt, passed into the Lord's care on Saturday January 12, 2013 at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento. He was born on June 21, 1928 to the late John and Bertha Kauk. He was a man of great faith and a deeply devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years MaryAnn and his older brother George. He is survived by his three children: Cynthia, Steven and Kathleen; his two grandchildren: Jason and Kristen; his brothers: John and Conrad; his sisters: Barbara and Betty and his current wife Glenna.
He had a long career as a Newspaper Pressman: working for The Grand Forks Herald, Sacramento Bee, San Jose Mercury and retired from The San Francisco Chronicle. Carl was a true Renaissance Man: with a diverse pallet of interests and talents. He was a Veteran of the Army in the Korean War. He ran his own Bee Apiary and Christmas Tree Farm. He was a talented Sharpshooter and an award winning Cyclist, in his later years achieving honors such as riding over 7000 miles in 1 year. Carl had said he had 'ridden enough miles on his bike to have traveled the circumference of the world.' He was a member of the Sacramento Wheelmen Club and a lifelong member of the NRA. His loves also included Steam Engine Trains, Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Radio Controlled Airplanes, Hunting, Camping and Traveling. He was a kind, generous and outgoing man; who upon engaging would expand and enrich your world through his extensive knowledge of history, his great sense of humor and his overall zest for life.
There will be a Memorial Service at 10 am on Thursday February 7th at Harvest Church-10385 East Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624 and a Veteran's Ceremony with full Military Honors on Friday February, 8th at 1 pm at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery - 5810 Midway Rd, Dixon, CA 95620
