Donald Bonner GREVE

GREVE, Donald Bonner
Born September 12, 1931, died December 24, 2013, after a seven year battle with Multiple System Atrophy, a rare disease neurological disease.

Don was from a pioneer family that settled in the Mother Lode area of West Point and Railroad Flat in 1848 and 1849. His Grandmother and parents, Eva and Myron Greve, owned and operated the historic Leger Hotel in Mokelumne Hill from 1898 until 1965.

Before graduating from the University of the Pacific in 1955, Don was married to Garnet Greve, (Manley). They were married for 61 years at his passing.

Don began his professional career as a topographer for the Department of the Interior in Washington D.C. Returning to California and continued with the Interior Department in the Sacramento area before going to work for the Department of Water Resources in 1958. Don stayed with the Sacramento office of the DWR until his retirement in 1990.

Don was active in local Time and Distance Rally clubs of the 1960's and early 1970's. He took up skiing later in life and skied into his mid 70's But Don's true passion was photography. Starting as just a 17 year old kid in Moke Hill, he photographed hundreds of weddings over the years as part of that passion. His eye will be missed.

Donald is survived by his wife Garnet, children, Nathan and Lori, grandchildren Quaylan, Rachael, Stephen, and Aryn and great grandchildren Shyla and Liam.
