George A. Newhall

  • "George and my father buddy together many years ago. Sorry..."

George Newhall, October 27, 1915-June 24, 2014. George was always willing to do the hard work necessary to achieve his (or someone else's) goal. Emerging from the Great Depression and World War II, he established a successful plumbing business, built two houses in West Sacramento and started a family. Over the years he participated in many civic activities, including becoming a charter member of the West Sacramento VFW Post, a volunteer fireman, and a Rotarian. He and Helen, George's wife of 71 years, were active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and ran the PTA snack bar at James Marshall High for several years. The plumbing at the VFW, the old Troop 292 Scout House, and the Presbyterian Church was provided courtesy of George and friends. George's family includes Ron and Cindy and Dennis, Yvonne, Matt, and Alyson. Friends will gather at the VFW on Soule Street July 6 from 12 noon to 2PM.
