George FLYNN Obituary

FLYNN, George Lester
Born December 12, 1933, age 76, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2010, surrounded by his family following a long illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy C. Flynn, and his father, George L. Flynn, Sr. A resident of El Dorado Hills, George leaves behind his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Adrienne A. Flynn, his brother, Richard Flynn, of Sacramento, his sons Michael Flynn of Boston, Mark Flynn of New Mexico, his step-daughter, Jeanette Cokely, of Placerville, and step-son Grant Davis of Watsonville. He is also survived by his nephew, Richard Flynn of Elk Grove, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A Sacramento native, George served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later attended the University of California at Berkeley, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. George spent his career working in material handling for Ford Motor Company, first, at the San Jose Assembly plant, and later at various assembly facilities throughout the US and Canada.
A devout Catholic, George enjoyed volunteering at Loaves and Fishes in Sacramento, the Upper Room in Placerville, and at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in El Dorado Hills, where he served in the Eucharistic ministry. He enjoyed travel, his family, and an active social life with many friends, who appreciated his quick, dry wit and zeal for life.
A funeral mass is planned for Monday, November 29, 2010, 11:00 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 3111 Tierra de Dios Drive, El Dorado Hills, CA 95762-8008. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either: Loaves and Fishes, P.O. Box 2191, Sacramento, CA, 95812 or the Upper Room, 3109 Sacramento Street, Placerville, CA 95669.
