I just learned of Itchy's passing this evening. My heart is saddened. Being with Itchy was like being in the middle of sparklers going off on the Fourth of July. Sacramento High was more fun because of her presence.
To her family I am so sorry for your loss of a truly remarkable woman.

I did not have the pleasure of meeting, Joanne but I am very good friends with her son Darren Hoffmann, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family.
May you rest the heavens above.

Fond memories of "itchy" from days at Sac hi. Larger than life personality even then

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Joanne Ichimura. It was a pleasure working with Joanna at Dept. of Social Services. She always greeted her co-workers with a smile and dignity. May you R.I.P. without any pain or suffering. Rest with the Angels Sincerely, Glorianna Schad

Joanne was a brilliant, thoughtful, caring, woman with a wonderful sense of humor. I liked her when we were attending Sac High, and still liked her when we reunited after 50 years. I know she will be missed by all who loved her and whose lives she touched in so many ways. She was special.

Over the span of my lifetime there have been few individuals who have affected me as profoundly as did Joanne. In our years together at the California Lottery, her intense, vivacious and charismatic personality made working with her an exciting, fun-filled adventure every day. It was a golden era in my State career and I treasure the memories from that time. My heart is broken at the news of her passing but know that she is free now of the pain and debility of her illness. I offer my deepest condolences to Joanne's family and to all those whose lives she touched as deeply as she did mine. Rest in peace "Joannie-poo-poo".
