I was Ludy's secretary at Thomson McKinnon in the early 1980's and a better boss was never had! Over the years he sent me postcards from all over the world and, more recently kept me laughing with the e-mails he sent me. Just realized I hadn't heard from him lately. I have many fond memories and will miss him very much. My heart goes out to his family and to Dee as well. He's out there somewhere reading the Kiplinger Letter, driving rental cars and/or reading jokes on e-mail.

Ludy was a member of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame as well as the famous Carmichael Poetry Society (poker group). His good spirit and poker face when needed made our time with him wonderful. We shared many bottles of his well aged wine. I WILL MISS HIM- GEORGE WHITE

Ludy's Cal spirit and genuine caring for others is what I will remember most...well, that and seeing him wearing his hat with the numerous pins from his many adventures and interests. Ge Bears!

We enjoyed having dinner with Ludy and the "uncorking" of wine on several occasions here in the San Jose area. He was always full of interesting conversation. We will miss him.

Ludy was a loyal friend. I valued his investment insights and enoyed our exchanges over the last couple of decades. I am in shock and will miss him. Life is way too short. John Dessauer, Naples Florida

Ludy has been a daily part of my life since 2006 when were on Rotary's Bids for Kids' committee. Since we were extremely successful in raising money and he learned that I too was a Cal grad, I became a recipient of his daily emails with jokes, financial advice, etc. Though we differ greatly in our political leanings, he loved our frank, pithy exchanges when he hit a raw, political nerve. We've all lost a good friend and patriot. It will take time to recover from the sadness I feel over his death.

Ludy was a man of the greatest integrity with a strong belief in the duty of contributing to his community and a boundless sense of humor. He was a friend to all he knew. When my own father passed away a few weeks ago Ludy took time out of his Hawaiian vacation to send a wonderful letter of condolences to my mother. It was just the kind of guy Ludy was. Ludy was wonderfully unique, a genuine "one of a kind" sparkling character who lifted the spirits of all he encountered. He will be sadly missed.
