Nat CONSULO Obituary

CONSULO, Nat
12/25/1933 - 1/06/2014
Nat Consulo, 80, of Roseville, CA., peacefully passed away from a brief illness Monday, January 6, 2014. He was born to Lena and Frank Consulo on December 25, 1933, in Sacramento, CA.

Prior to his career as an insurance agent, Nat singlehandedly managed the restaurant staff for the McClellan Air Force Base. While working there he met his future mother-in-law, Oma Baser, which eventually led to an introduction to his future wife, Lawanda. Nat and Lawanda were happily married for 48 years.

On several occasions during his lifetime, Nat was recognized as a top salesman for Allstate Insurance over his 35-year career. Before joining Allstate, he worked for Valley Motor Lines and Challenge Dairy.

Nat was a music lover and was an accomplished pedal steel guitarist. He was inducted into the Western Swing Society's Hall of Fame for his significant contributions. His band, Nat Consulo and his Rancho Rhythm Boys, was featured in radio and TV shows and enjoyed by many during the 1950's where members of his band included his brother, Vic Consulo, and his brother-in-law, John Baser. For several decades, he continued to entertain audiences with country music.

His greatest joy included spending time with his grandchildren and working on his 40-acre ranch in rural Roseville where he raised cattle, collected John Deere tractors and held an annual October gathering at his own pumpkin patch.

His was an annual supporter of the junior livestock auctions at the Placer County Fair and Gold Country Fair. Nat was also active as a 4-H project leader, in the Sons of Italy, and was a member of the Dry Creek Joint Elementary School Board of Trustees.

Nat was predeceased by his parents, Lena and Frank, and loving wife Lawanda. He is survived by brother Joe Consulo of Sacramento, CA; sons Daryl (Tammy) of Penryn, CA, Daren of Lincoln, CA, and David (Andra) of Rocklin, CA; Daughter Sharon (Noel) Consulo Webb of Los Angeles, CA; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Alexandra, Nick, Natalee, Benjamin, Brandon, and Frank.

A Visitation for Nat is to be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Cochrane & Wagemann, Funeral Directors, 103 Lincoln St., Roseville, CA 95678, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Monday, January 13, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 615 Vine Ave., Roseville, CA 95678, at 10:00 A.M. A reception will be held at the conclusion of the service. Please share love and memories on Nat's guestbook at www.cochranewagemann.com

My Uncle Nat was truly a wonderful human being. Loving husband, great father, brother, uncle and friend. He always had a smile on his face as well as positive and loving words for all he touched. The world would be a better place if there were more Nat's here. I will miss you my spaghetti & meatball ;(
