BURRELL, Richard William
Richard William Burrell, of Sacramento, CA passed away on February 3, 2013. Richard was born February 8, 1958 in Kansas City, Mo, where he grew up and graduated from Southwest High School in 1976. Heading out West, he graduated from Sacramento City College in the early 1990's and spent his remaining working years working in the Nursing field. He was known for his high expectations of himself and others in the healthcare field, as well as his excellent communication skills and supportive education towards those he supervised, as well and his colleagues.
Richard was well read in many arenas and had a very bright, quick mind. He had a particular love for motorcycles, sports cars, baseball/football, travel, and wonderful food. He particularly loved Costa Rica and once spent 6 months in Thailand, New Zealand, the Fuji Islands, and Australia. He traveled with an adventurous spirit and met up with many wonderful companions whom then traveled with him throughout his journeys.
Richard had an extremely compassionate, kind, and forgiving heart. The joy he received from his pleasures in life was contagious and he was like a little kid in a candy store who just couldn't get enough. He was extremely generous to those he loved so that they could share in those adventures together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William John and Elizabeth Jane Burrell, as well as his brother Kenneth Robert Burrell. He is survived by his significant other and love of his life, Rachel Prentice of Sacramento, his brother John Steven Burrell and sister-in-law, Mary Lynn Burrell, also from California and sister, Patty Burrell, of Kansas City, MO, nieces and nephews, Patrick and Lisa Burrell, Jenny and Bill Burrell, Michael Burrell, Kelsey Burrell, and great niece Felicity Burrell, daughter of Lisa, As well, there are cousins and dear friends who loved him and will remember him always. He will live in all of our hearts forever. Friends and family are welcome to honor Richard at the Vizcaya Pavillion, 2019 21St Street on Saturday, Feb 16 from 5-7PM.
