HARTMAN, Rosalie (Cook) Rosalie (Cook) Hartman passed away peacefully at home in Sacramento, California on June 25, 2014, with her husband of 57 years at her side. Born at home in Burton, Nebraska on January 29, 1937, Rosalie was the youngest daughter of Perry H. and Fern (Horton) Cook. After graduation from high school in Springview, she taught first through eighth grades for one year in a rural school in Keya Paha County, Nebraska. Rosalie attended Chadron State College in Nebraska, where she met her husband, Cleo Hartman, from Hot Springs, South Dakota. They were married on March 23, 1957 in Hill City, South Dakota. They are the parents of three sons, David, Michael and Gary. As a stay-at-home mom, Rosalie cared for young children and took in ironing for working parents. She and her husband were also foster parents of several children for five years in Bakersfield, California. Rosalie had an exceptional love and discernment for color. She was admired by many for her special talent as a certified personal color consultant in analyzing and advising individuals on their best colors in style, clothing, makeup and general appearance. Rosalie earned her bachelor degree from California State University, Sacramento, while employed in local hospitals as a medical transcriber. She retired from employment as a consultant for the California Department of Education after many years of state service. Rosalie traveled and toured in all 48 contiguous states and Hawaii. She made a special point of visiting all the Spanish missions in California and Texas, and also toured in Europe and Russia. She is predeceased by her parents, infant brother, John L, niece, Cathy Cook, sister, Beatrice Lewis, brother, William H. "Bill" Cook, and oldest son, David John Hartmann. Survived by her husband, two sons, Michael (Sheryl) Hartman, and Gary (Jean) Hartmann, three grandsons, Neil (Yessica) Hartman, Kevin (Siri) Hartman and Brian Merrill, one granddaughter, Sarah (Taner) Hartmann, and three great-granddaughters, Katalina Rose Hartman, Hannah Merrill, and Holland Merrill. At Rosalie's request, no services were held. A private graveside service is planned for a future date in Pine Lawn Cemetery in Rapid City, South Dakota.
