DEW, Victor A.
Born June 8, 1990 in Hayward, CA, was killed in action on October 13, 2010 in the Helmand province of Afghanistan, age 20. He was a resident of Granite Bay for 8-1/2 years, graduating from Granite Bay High School in 2008 where he played football for 2 years. He studied martial arts since the age of 6; Victor was a 2nd Degree black Belt in Zen Budokai Jujitsu. He was an anti-armour missle man in the US Marine Corps. His life's passion was always to be a Marine. Victor enlisted March 2009, starting boot camp Sept. 2009 and graduating MCRD San Diego Dec. 2009. He graduated School of Infantry March 2010 and placed with 3rd Battallion 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine, Division, Camp Pendleton, CA. The Battallion left for Afghanistan late September 2010. Victor's love for his family, sense of humor, contagious laughter, and his ability to maintain strength and calmness will be missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. Victor is survived by his parents, Tom and Patty Schumacher; siblings, Kyle and Katie Schumacher, Carolyn Dew Calderan, Casey Calderan, Darrell Dew, Jr., and Jason Dew; grandparents, Bernie and Ruth Schumacher, Sarah Videll; fiancee Courtney Gold; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. A visitation will be held at Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses, 103 Lincoln St., Roseville, CA on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 3pm-9pm. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, October 21, 2010 at St. Rose Catholic Church, 615 Vine St., Roseville, CA beginning at 11am. Full Military Honors will be at East Lawn Memorial Park Sierra Hills where Victor is to be laid to rest.
