Betty BROOKS Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 30 to Jul. 3, 2011.

BROOKS, Betty Jean
Born April 12, 1928 passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. She was born in Hope, Arkansas daughter of Reuben Edward Lewis and Leta Lou Lewis. Betty is survived by son, Stephen Douglas Brooks of Loomis, CA, two daughters, Teresa Brooks Tanin and Dinah L. Brooks of Davis, CA., eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her award winning horse, Cuate and her little dog LuLu. In 1963 she and her husband Bruce founded Capitol Oil Corporation. Moving to El Macero, CA in 1973 they were the eighth members to join the Country Club in 1960. Betty was a drum majorette in college, an usherette at the local movie house, a switchboard operator for Kaiser Hospital, and loved to sing at their restaurant the Zombie Hut. She was an avid golfer, a past captain of the eighteen holers, and a Sacramento Kings fan, but her love for horses prompted her to open a horse boarding facility, Brooks Family Ranch, in Davis, CA in November 1999 where she enjoyed the country life that reminded her so fondly of her childhood home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Celebration of Life will be held in lieu of services. Donations can be made in her name to SPCA.
