
MURATA, Gary
Born August 8, 1947 in Sacramento, CA. to parents Ned and Betty Murata. Gary passed away June 1, 2012 in Sacramento.
Preceded in death by his father Ned in 1997, Gary is survived by his granddaughter Kaiya, daughter Stefani, wife Deborah, mother Betty, sister Christine, brother Steven (Marie), nephews Michael and Travis, niece Amber, step-children Cydney Jaghory and Sam Skow, great nieces and nephews, and many cherished family and friends.
A graduate of Hiram Johnson in 1965, Gary went on to get a BA at Sac State and dedicated 37 years working for the DMV with the State of California. For his service in the Vietnam War, Gary received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He was a past President of the Sacramento Golf Club, past member of the Sacramento City Golf Council, and a calligrapher for the Northern CA Golf Assoc. Gary was very family oriented especially when it came to his beloved Kaiya, whom he adored. He was the rock of the family to both young and old, and a know-it-all... thus becoming the go-to person for everything. He will truly be missed. Memorial Service to be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, 11am at the Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church, 6929 Franklin Blvd., Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church, or to Sutter Hospice in remembrance of his late father Ned Murata.
