MULLIGAN, Hollis B.
1929 - 2012

Hollis Brown Mulligan, 83, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, in Sacramento. Hollis was the third daughter of Audrey Dixon Brown and Frederick William Brown, Jr. She graduated from Sacramento High School in 1947.

She was married to Frederick Joseph Mulligan, Jr., for 45 years before Fred's death in 1994. Fred always referred to Hollis as 'my bride.' Hollis is survived by their five children: Greg Mulligan (Sandy) of Lafayette; Catherine Skeen (David) of Sacramento; Chris Mulligan (Janet) of Windsor; Nancy Gomes (Tim) of Livermore; and Scott Mulligan (Icyl) of Carson City. Hollis is also survived by her many grandchildren: Bryan and Eric Mulligan; Brooke and Bradley Skeen; Elizabeth, Sean and Rebecca Mulligan; Ben and Audrey Gomes; and step-grandchildren Lauren, Leeland and Schell Tingley.

She is survived by her sister Nanele Arnold (Bill) and was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Fitzmorris (George). Hollis was a Jobs Daughter and participated in many other groups including: Native Daughters of the Golden West, Sutter Parlor; Tuesday Club; and the Elks Emblem Club. Hollis had a big personality and is remembered as a "character" by friends.

Hollis loved to travel, visiting Canada, Mexico, Peru, England, France, Eastern Europe, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Africa and South America. When Fred retired, Hollis and Fred travelled the country in their motor home, visiting every state and many U.S. Navy reunions.

Hollis's life will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Parish in Sacramento June 18, at 11:00am; private interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Native Daughters of the Golden West Children's Foundation, 543 Baker St., San Francisco, 94117-1405, ndgw.org.
