
DeREUS, Robert W. Major USAF (Ret.)
Born Jan. 18, 1928 in San Francisco, CA. Passed away suddenly June 3, 2012 in Carmichael, CA at the age of 84. Survived by beloved wife of 40 years, Muriel DeReus, sons Harry and Scott, daughter Carol and grandchildren Lori, Mark and Mary, and 9 great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
Graduated from the Univ. of Utah in 1954 with a BS in Ed. A veteran of WWII, Korea and Viet Nam. Awarded a bronze medal for service in Viet Nam. Participated in the USA Senior Olympics, receiving 12 gold medals and numerous silver medals for various events.
Appreciated for his craftsmanship in wood and ship building. In 1986 won 3rd prize in the nation from Mechanic Illustrated Magazine for building a steel 43 ft. ocean going vessel, 'The Muriel'. But, most loved for his compassion, kindness, and integrity.
He will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him. Friends are invited to join the family for a military service on June 22, 2012 at 2 PM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA, followed by a Celebration of Life from 3pm to 5pm at Bud's Grille, 100 South First St. Dixon, CA 95620.
