KOUGH, Rita Grace
Beloved wife and mother Rita Kough, 94, passed away on June 13, 2012.
Rita was the 10th of 12 children in Seneca, Kansas. She was forced to leave school to work on the family farm at the age of 12 due to the struggles of the Great Depression and the fact that she was a girl. This lack of education created economic hardships for her until her marriage to Walter Kough in 1953. Well into middle age she got a GED, and her intellectual powers became evident as she eventually became a tax expert in the State of California's Franchise Tax Board and Board of Equalization.
She was blessed that many of her siblings moved to California with her so she had a rich extended family life. She was predecreased by all her siblings. She showered her children and grandchildren with love, commitment and wisdom and experienced a rich life outside her home with bridge, golf and church friends. She is survived by her husband Walter Kough; Children: Christine Shoemaker, Cheryl Mascaro, and Bill Kough; grandchildren: Erica Shoemaker, Brina Wright, Greg Thorp, and Samuel Mascaro; great-grandchildren: Gabriel Kartch and Grayson Hertzler and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Rita's life (memorial service) will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday June 22, 2012 at Westside Christian Church located at 2000 Opportunity Drive, ste. 150, Roseville, CA 95678 (at corner of Foothills Blvd and Vineyard Rd).
