Paul James Evans, 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep, June 8, 2012, at his home in Rancho Cordova, California after a long battle with cancer. Paul was born January 7, 1949, in Orange County, CA. He graduated from Covina High School. Paul entered the US Navy and worked on submarines from 1973-1977. He was stationed for 6 months in Vallejo at the docking yards refurbishing submarines and upgrading them. Paul was an avid bowler and worked at Crestview Lanes in Carmichael for 23 years as a night maintenance clerk. He married Christina Ann Pedges on September 11, 1989, and resided in Folsom, CA for most of their marriage. As a bowler, Paul participated in many bowling tournaments in Reno and Sacramento and has bowled perfect games. Paul was also a rare coin collector, an avid reader, a poem writer and had a beautiful tenor voice in his day. Paul is survived by step-daughters and their spouses: Christy Lynn Robertson, Misty Lee and Christopher Lampshire, Jeanna Oree and Brian Robertson; his sons: Paul James Evans II and Johnathan Paul Cantwell; his grandchildren: Bryan Pedges and Lena Atwater, Shawn and Aja Bernard, Harley and Robert Updyke, Joshua Taylor, Jordan Lampshire, Samantha, Alec, Nathaniel, Andrea, and Isaiah Robertson; great-grandchildren: Joseph Atwater, Bryan Pedges, and Seamus Bernard; mother-in-law: Marion Ardella Wiemers; brothers: Gerald William Evans and Ralph Dennis Evans and many in-laws and friends. Paul is predeceased by wife, Christina Ann Evans, 2005; mother, Martha Jean Smiley, 1967; father, Henderson Evans Jr. 1981; and father-in-law Kenneth Charles Wiemers, 2005. A memorial service will be held at Oak Hills Church, (upstairs Chapel) 1100 Blue Ravine, Folsom, CA 95630 on July 1, 2012, at 1:30 pm. Paul's final resting place will be located at the Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys, CA.
