FONSECA, Daniel
March 12, 1927 - June 26, 2012
Mr. Daniel Fonseca, age 85, of Sacramento, died Tuesday at Sutter General Hospital. Born in Sacramento, Daniel was the son of the late John Fonseca and Elsie (Adams) Fonseca. He attended Sacramento schools and was a resident of Yolo County for most of his life. He enlisted in the United States Navy for over 10 years and proudly served his country during World War II and the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Daniel worked as a carpenter for over 15 years and then retired. Daniel enjoyed traveling and telling stories of the various countries he had visited while enlisted in the Navy. Preceded in death by his brothers John and Harry Fonseca, Daniel leaves his sister Elsie Shilin and brothers Henry, Fred, and Tony Fonseca. Daniel was preceded in death by his spouse Aurora Gavaldon, his daughter Diane Vega and leaves his sons Daniel, Mike, and John Fonseca. He was a loving father, grandfather, godfather, and uncle, and had an extended family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws who were very special to him. A rosary will be held on July 5, 2012, at 7 PM at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, 2691 Riverside Boulevard, Sacramento, CA. An honorable burial service will be held on July 6, 2012, at 11 AM at Saint Mary's Cemetery, 6700 21st, Avenue, Sacramento, CA.
