SULLIVAN, Kathleen Anne
(Hastings)
April 29, 1937 - July 3, 2012
An Irish lass went home last Tuesday. Katie, or Kate, left us peacefully after a valiant battle with lung cancer. She was so loved and surrounded with prayers from her family and friends when she passed.
Katie was born in Oakland, California, and raised in the Bay Area. She left California when she was nineteen and spent many years in other states, including Wyoming, New Mexico, New Jersey and North Carolina. She came home to California 25 years ago, and happily spent her time in the Roseville area.
After returning to California, Katie started an extremely successful career in real estate and sold many new homes in the greater Sacramento area. She won many prestigious awards for her efforts, but the greatest reward for her was the happiness of her home buyers.
Katie is survived by her husband, Jerry Sullivan, the love of her life and best friend. She is also survived by her daughter Jann Layman (Scott) and her son Robert Hastings, Jr., (Georgina), step children Jeff Sullivan, Glenn Sullivan (Bev) and Toni Pinto, grandchildren Jennifer, Justin, Matthew, Carissa, Nick, Nathan, Dimitri and Joseph, and great grandchildren Emily, Nicholas and Nykyla. She is also survived by her brother Bill Burford (Linda), brother Tom Burford (Carol) and sister Genny Nuckolls (Les). She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends. Katie was predeceased by her father, Edward Burford, her mother, Mary Burford, her sister, Maureen Stockinger, and her granddaughter Jessica Rapp.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for Katie at East Lawn Mortuary, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841, on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 5 p.m. Her family and friends will remember that Katie had a great passion for travel, especially on a cruise ship. She traveled the world, exploring ports, seeing famous sites and making new friends. The world will miss her, but in our hearts we know that she is FOREVER CRUISING!
