MORGAN, Ronald S.
Born July 15, 1926 in Alturas CA and passed away September 7, 2012 in Sacramento, CA.
At age 17 Ron joined the Army and served in the last horse cavalry before being assigned to the 11th Airborne Division in the South Pacific. Returning from WWII, he attended UC Davis then UC Berkeley. While at UC, he met the love of his life, Edna Belle Hammon, and they married in 1949. Upon graduation in 1951, Ron came to Sacramento as a teacher, then principal, at Pacific Elementary School. He returned to UC Berkeley for two years to obtain his Master's Degree in Education in 1964.
Ronald spent 35 years working for the Sacramento City Unified School District. He spent the majority of his career as principal at both Fern Bacon Jr. High and John F. Kennedy Sr. High before becoming the District Contract Negotiator.
Following retirement in 1986, Ron spent his time volunteering for the Sutter Hospital Auxiliary and traveling with Edna on many wonderful trips throughout the U.S. and Europe. He looked forward to the guy's monthly poker nights with good food and an even better hand of cards.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edna; son Michael G. Morgan and his wife Sally; daughter Patricia Maydahl and her husband Jerry; 3 grandchildren: Stacey Maydahl-Aguiar, Brian Maydahl and Andrea Cordova; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A private Celebration of Life for Ron will be held on Saturday, September 15.
