
FLORES, Joseph 'Joe'

Long-time residence of Watsonville, Joe passed peacefully on October 2, 2012 in Salinas. Joe was 69 years old. He was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico on August 21, 1943. In 1946 the Flores family settled in Watsonville. Joe is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Karen Ann Flores; children Joe (Liz) Flores, Melissa (Steve) Fischer, and Emily (Morgan) Nelsen; grandchildren, Joshua Miles and Parker Maximino; brothers Armando (Liz) Flores, Harvey (Faye) Flores, Ray (Betty) Flores, & Dave (Rose) Flores and numerous nieces, nephews & grand nieces and nephews.
Joe met his wife, Karen, while he was in the Air Force in Texas. In 1966, Joe joined the Watsonville Police Department. Joe received numerous awards and recognitions for his outstanding service to his community. He was involved in many service agencies including Watsonville Boy's Club, YMCA, Family Services Association of the Pajaro Valley and Lion's Club International. In 1981, Joe left the Watsonville Police Department to join the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Department, working as a Deputy Sheriff. In 1998, Joe retired from Law Enforcement after 32 years of service.
Visitation will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave. in Watsonville, Sunday, October 7, 2012, 3:00-6:00pm. Mass will be held Monday, October 8, 2012, 11:00am, at Our Lady Help of Christians Valley Catholic Church, 2401 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville, CA.
