
JAMES, Jr., Jesse
Jesse James, Jr., 90, was born in Marshall, Texas on November 1, 1921 to Jesse James and Lula Balous James. He was the eldest of five brothers who preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Merle James of Hayward, CA. He is also survived by one sister, Lula Whitfield of Sacramento, CA. He is also survived by his children, Rubeun Smith (Brenda), Rocklin, CA Marla Davis (Ernest), Elk Grove, CA, Theodore James (Constance), Sacramento, CA, and Crystel Giddings of San Leandro, CA. A daughter, Jessie Smith, predeceased him. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Jesse, a self-taught man of many talents, was living at home in the house he built over 60 years ago in Oak Park. He was the go to handyman for his neighbors and his children. His interests also included leather work and fine wood work which reflected his quality workmanship. Jesse worked in the foundry for the Southern Pacific Railroad and for the State of California (Highway Patrol, General Services). Jesse James, Jr. was a faithful member of Kyles Temple AME Zion and Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 11:00 am at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 2620 Capitol Avenue, (Parking at 27th and N), Visitation is on Tuesday, October 9, 3-7 pm at Thompson Rose Chapel, 3601 5th Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95817
