BARKELL, Richard K. passed away in Sacramento at the age of 76. Born in Yuba City, CA to Kenneth T. and Mildred E. Barkell on December 5, 1935. After 1 yr in Yuba City he moved to Clarksburg, CA. for 10 years and then moved to Sacramento in 1946 where he spent the remainder of his life. He graduated from Sacramento Senior High School in 1954 where he excelled at track and football. He was captain of the varsity track team his senior year then went on to Brigham Young Univ. in Provo, UT. He retired from management after 31 years with AT&T. He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the world. He is survived by his wife of _33_ years, Nelma J. Barkell; his brother Dane H. Barkell; Sons Steven R. and Michael K. Barkell and Daughter Vicki Dunford; Eight grandchildren and __6___ Great Grand Children. He was a dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and respected friend who will be missed by all who knew him. Remembering (October 8, 2012), with great sadness for the loss of my loving husband and best friend Richard K. Barkell (Dick). A strong man full of love and devotion to family and friends.
