ENGLER, Richard L., AIA
Entered the Gates of Heaven on October 8, 2012, at the age of 76.

Mr. Engler was born June 16, 1936 to Julius and Elisabeth Engler. He spent his childhood on a farm in the middle of Nebraska with his siblings Jerome and Marlene. After high school he went on to join the Coast Guard where, after he served for four years; he was honorably discharged. He then was admitted to the University of Nebraska where he went on to pursue his degree in Architecture, and the woman who would be by his side for the next 50 years, his 'bride' Carolyn.

Richard, a devout and charitable Catholic, loved life, his career, travelling around the world, meeting new people, and most of all his family. His love and devotion to his passions were deeply felt by anyone who had the honor to know him. His desire for knowledge, adventure, and perfection was appreciated by many. Richard enjoyed a long and successful architectural career, traveling across this country, working on numerous diverse projects which gave him much satisfaction and pleasure throughout his career. His stories of old, wise advice, and huge heart will be missed by all, but treasured and remembered with fondness.

Richard is survived by his wife Carolyn, his daughter Lea Heather, and his son Peter; his son-in-law Shane and his daughter-in-law Nicole; his grandchildren by his daughter, Axl and London; his brother Jerome and his family; his sister Marlene and her family.

Richard's list of family, friends, mentors, mentees, and coworkers that he held dear and that had made an impact upon his life is enviable. He felt grateful, blessed, and satisfied with his accomplishments and those who supported him. His regrets were few. In the end he would have agreed with William Pennington, 'Our Father and our God, unto Thee, O Lord we lift our souls.'
