    - Daniel and Laura McNamara

Syma Jo Reynolds Greene peacefully joined her late husband, Senator Leroy F. Greene, on December 2, 2012. Born in Bremerton, Washington on March 4, 1944, to the late Jahu Barnard Reynolds and Olga Christine Swanson, Syma earned her BA in English Literature at University of Puget Sound, Washington. Her love for education lead her to a career as an advocate for school facilities in her firm Reynolds and Associates in Sacramento. In advocating for the needs of her client school districts throughout California she met and later married Senator Greene who eventually joined her at the helm of their firm Leroy Greene and Associates, Inc., as a joint effort in their lifelong dedication to benefit California schools. Syma was an avid reader of the classics to poetry, the newspaper and everything in-between. "The feel of a good book or the Sacramento Bee in one's hands shall never be surpassed by the new devices." She adored her grandchildren and her long-time sister friends Ronna McDaniel and Rosie Turner who were loving and devoted to the end. Syma is survived by a son, Eric Wilson Hasseltine of Tennessee, daughter Sallie Renee Hasseltine of Santa Rosa, CA, and chosen daughter Kimberly Flener (and her husband Huck) of Chico, CA; grandchildren Kate and Austin Hasseltine, and chosen grandchildren Alex Apilado, Arianna Apilado, and Jacob Flener; and great grandchild Adrian Alexander Apilado. Syma is also survived by her sister Sallie Christine Reynolds and nephew Samuel Adatto of Washington, sister-in-law Doris Greene of Baltimore, MD and many cousins. She leaves numerous lifelong friends who will keep her forever in their hearts. A memorial to celebrate the life of Syma Reynolds Greene is scheduled for January 8, 2013, at 10:00 AM at Lind Brothers Mortuary located at 4221 Manzanita Avenue, Carmichael, CA.
