TYLER, Patricia Diane (nee Limper)
Age 66, of Sacramento, California, died peacefully on January 23, 2013 in the company of her husband at Sutter General Hospital after a courageous 6 month battle with cancer.
Patty was born in Chico, CA on August 14, 1946, the first child of Esther Burns Limper and the late Tillman C. Limper. Shortly after her birth, the Limpers relocated to Yuba City, CA. Patty attended Holy Angels School and Notre Dame High School where she was Salutatorian for the graduating Class of 1964 before matriculating to the University of San Francisco.
Ensign Limper was commissioned in the United States Navy Nurse Corps, and upon graduation from the School of Nursing in 1968 she was assigned to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, Calif., where she met and fell in love with her life's companion, Clifford A. Tyler, Jr. and married him on June 12, 1971 at Mission San Luis Rey. They soon relocated to Sacramento, where Patty served for 6 years as a discharge coordinator for Mercy Hospital and then as an oncology nurse for Sacramento Center for Hematology and Medical Oncology, until January 1992. She then transferred to Sutter Health Resource Center, where she served as a Telehealth nurse advisor until January 1999. Her final undertaking was as an oncology nurse at the UC Davis Cancer Center, from which she retired in August 2011.
Patty spent a lifetime caring for those seriously ill with cancer and earned the respect and admiration of patients, their families, and medical staff throughout the Sacramento area. She earned a Healer of the Year award, was nominated several times for the Heroes in Health Care award, and was included in the book Extraordinary Healers published in 2007.
Patty is survived by her husband, Cliff, her mother, Esther, her siblings Marcia Fulham (Tom), Carolyn Argall (Dennis), Stephen Limper, and Thomas Limper (Julie), nine nieces and nephews, and one grand-niece.
