I will always remember Manuel...every time I would see him at one of our Portuguese functions, he would always give me a big hug and say, "Ah Diana its so good to see you." I never had the heart to correct him and say that my name was Angela not my mom Diana...he called me Diana for so many years I almost felt like that was actually my name. I will never forget him as he was such a good hearted and loving man. Maria is right, as the shamarita will never be the same without our Manuels stomping and shout outs. May you rest in peace.

We first met Mannie about 12 years ago when our daughter attended St. Mel School. Mannie was the most generous, kindhearted person. He had a warm spirit about him and he was always willing to help. Heavens rose garden is a little brighter now. Rest in peace Mannie, we will sure miss you.

May God's Perpetual Light Shine Upon You Dearest Manny! May God's comfort surround you and your family Connie. My fond memories of Manny are forever etched on my mind. The children's lives he touched while at St. Mel School; they learned what a selfless man is! He was a man of great character!! God Bless You Manny! RIP The Pugno Family

I was a teacher at St. Mel's during Manny's whole time there. He was a joy to have around and was most attentive to all of us and our needs. We used to have great conversations, a number of them about his eye
condition due to his diabetes. Also, his tri-tip was the best! He was a great man who will be very missed by all. Connie, you and your whole family are in my prayers.

My family and I knew Manny while employed at St. Mel's Catholic grammar school. He always said hello. He was always helpful. He always wanted to go beyond what was asked of him. Manny will truly be missed as he was a man of great character, truthfulness and kindness. Please accept my family's deep condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Much love, Lisa, Dick, Bobby, Riley and Megan Shanahan

One of the most kind hearted people I've ever met. Attended St. Mel's for 9 years, while the school itself had an abundance of issues, you could always count on Manny's smile and exuberant greeting. The man exuded kindness and warmth. Your positivity was contagious and you'll live on in our memories. Thanks for being a great guy, Manny.

I will always remember Manuel for his gathering at their home every New Years Day. It was a family tradition in my family for many years that we got to go over their house and play with all the Portuguese kids our age and eat Manuel &Connie's good food. Manuel devoted his heart and soul to his wife, his family and to our Portuguese community. He always put everyone else first. Portuguese gatherings at the hall will never be the same without him. Rest in peace Mr.DaSilva!

Manny was a beloved figure at St. Mels School in Fair Oaks. He was always so sweet and kind to everyone he came in contact with. I remember him walking through the halls, with his big ring of keys, always smiling and ready to chat. "Hey Les," he'd say, "how's your roses doing?" He loved talking about gardening and he was so proud of his beautiful roses that he cared for at the school. Everyone loved Manny, but especially the kids. His gentle, easy-going ways and his sweet smile left a lasting impression on us parents who knew him over the years. God bless you Manny. I hope you're enjoying your roses with the Blessed Mother.

Manuel will be missed. I will remember his smile and him laughing when he would call me "Maria" and then say, "whoops, sorry...Judy!". My prayers go out to all of his family. We have lost another great man from our community.

Dear sweet cousin, what can I say, that your smile was so contagious, if I was down you alway had kind words to say, and jokes and all the times we shared a drink... I will keep you in my heart and try to be more like you, smiling and happy, that's how you will be remembered in my heart forever. RIP Love you.

It's with deep sadness that I write in this guest book. I've known Senhor DaSilva for my entire life. The last time I saw him, he was making linguisa with my parents and he said to me, "Cindy, we gonna make linguisa together." I am sad that I do not get to make linguisa with him. Senhor DaSiva was full of life and always the life of the party. He was a kind man and would always lend a helping hand where ever he was. Senhor DaSilva, thank you for everything you've done for my family and what you've done for our Portuguese community. It's not going to be the same without you but your memory will live inside all of us.
