John Worsley Obituary

Published by Sacramento Bee on Jun. 16, 2013.
John C. Worsley, 69, passed away 5/11/13 at home after a battle with prostate cancer and congestive heart failure. He was born in Sacramento where he grew up and graduated from Encina High School. In a school competition, John designed the first Encina H.S. mascot. John had an eye for the arts and became very interested in photography. He was a member of Sacramento Valley Professional Photographers and Professional Photographers of America and California, where he won many awards in portraiture and became a Master Photographer. He worked for several portrait studios in Sacramento and owned his own studio. John was very giving of his knowledge of lighting and posing and would teach anyone that wanted to learn. John enjoyed drawing and painting, a passion for cars (Bricklin, Pantera, Shelby clubs), and very involved with fitness training for many years. He was kind hearted and would help a friend anytime. If it had to do with the arts, cars or fitness, John loved to spread his knowledge of it. He loved his family and he will be missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Albert and Norma Worsley. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Alice, brother Ray C. Worsley (Bonny), Aptos, CA, daughter Jennifer (Ian), and granddaughter Claire, Sacramento, CA. You are welcome to celebrate John's life on June 30 at 2pm at Northminster Presbyterian Church at 3235 Pope Ave, Sacramento 95821.

We have just learned of John's passing and the Melchionda Family would like to express our sincere condolences. Many years ago, we were introduced to John by an extended family member. John then photographed our wedding. Having been transferred to the Midwest, we made the trek back to California so we would have John join us to remember how our family started in Sacramento and how it was now growing as we gathered together at William Land Park for a special family photograph.

He was a warm and kind spirit who always had a positive thought on everything, as well as a true friend who will be sorely missed.

We will always have John with us, since we see his work every time we look at the numerous photos on display in our home. We will forever cherish is memory, friendship and his images of life that we carry with us.

My heart breaks to learn of my Bricklin fella passing. I met John while I was attending and running Sacramento Eurosunday chapter. He warmed my heart with photography stories and cars and more. He made us all smile every time he pulled up. We always had a laugh when he would drive his wife's VW to an event and park next to my Hummer. I will miss the man a great deal. Enjoy the heavens John. Say hi to my Mom again up there. You made an unforgettable impression on me forever. Good bye kid.

John is responsible for some of the best photos of my career. We worked well and hard to together to get the shots right. He will be greatly missed. Gods speed John

John stood in the middle of Fair Oaks Blvd. to take this pic of all of his buddies @ Body And Power Health Club back in the 1980's <3

I have the fondest memories of John. Back in the 1980's we belonged to the same health club in Carmichael. John was a master at taking photographs for all of the local bodybuilders. Everyone loved his warm and friendly personality...He would always greet me with a "Hello Kid!"...very special man indeed. I have a few dozen gorgeous pics that John had taken for me A wonderfully gifted man that will be missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Our family (Lester's of NPC), once had a portrait sitting at Mr. Worsley's studio. We had a fabulous time, he made us laugh and the pictures were priceless!

Its been 30 years since I had John take my bodybuilding photos before my contest in the Mr. Sacramento 1983.
