1970 - 2013
Lisa Marie Corpuz-Alvarez, 43, left us far too soon on July 5, 2013 from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident in Rio Linda, California. Lisa was born March 31, 1970 in Sacramento, California and was a resident of Northern California most of her life. Early in Lisa's adult life, she was a backup singer and dancer for Joey B. Ellis and MC Hammer and toured the world. She later sang with the King Bradley Fisher Band and worked for several area businesses over the years. Lisa was an active member of the Rio Linda community. In 2005, Lisa married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, James Alvarez. Together, Lisa and Jimmy settled in Rio Linda to raise their children.
Lisa is survived by her husband Jimmy, daughters Makaila, Monika, Shannon, and son Royce; grandmother Dissie Corpos; father Roy Ignacio, Sr.; mother Rose Ignacio; brother Roy Ignacio, Jr.; sister Lena Ignacio; Godchildren Cyle and Mandee Hellwig; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lisa is preceded in death by her beloved grandfather Valeriano (Bob) Corpos.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service Saturday, July 20, 2013, at 10 a.m., at the North Sacramento Funeral Home located at 725 El Camino Avenue, Sacramento, CA. Flowers may be delivered until 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20. A reception will follow the service at the home of Tony and Kimberly Hellwig (a map will be provided at the service). Guests are encouraged to bring a favorite photo of Lisa to share with the family.
Contributions in memory of Lisa may be made to a memorial fund, the proceeds from which will go to Lisa's children and husband. Contributions can be sent and made payable to:
