Benjamin Saia, a prominent Sacramento businessman born in Buffalo NY in 1933, died on July 6, 2013 of heart failure at the age of 80. Ben started his first company in Los Angeles after serving 10 years in the Air Force. He later moved to Sacramento to become one of the largest video distributors in the nation. Founder of several successful companies including Video Service Center, Video Products Distributors and Pro Video, Ben brought video technology into consumer homes from the late 1970's through the 1980's. Employing over 150 people including his children, he later funded Cal Fresh Produce. Listed on Inc. 500 Magazine's list of fastest growing companies, he was admired by his family, friends and business associates for his generosity, charisma, and leadership. He later retired in Las Vegas with his partner of 25 years, Sharon Chappell. Ben is survived by his brothers Jimmy (and wife Norma), Sam and Jerry; children Sam, David, and Susan; and grandchildren Sean, Candace, and Renee. A private honorary memorial will be held in Las Vegas.
