She valued learning and passed along to her children the value of education in their pursuit of a life well-lived. She instilled in her family the belief that success in life meant contributing to the well-being of the community. On Derick Way, where she lived most of her life, she was an avid gardener and took special joy from nurturing her bright and colorful geraniums and azaleas, and harvesting avocados, oranges, and cherries. She enjoyed swimming regularly at the Sac City College pool. And she loved music, whether singing in the choir or playing her guitar.
