LICURSI, Grace Elizabeth
Nov. 20, 1921 - Jan. 23, 2014
AKA GRACE BLOSSOM
AKA GRACE TUPPER

Born in Miami, Arizona, graduated from Point Loma High School and San Diego State where she met first husband Dr. H. H. Blossom and was active in student government, Pi Beta Phi and regular beach going. During over 60 years residence in Sacramento Grace enjoyed going to Park Terrace Dance Club, bridge club, 'Les Girls' stock club, AAUW, Sierra 2, and 'The Y'.

In the early years the family traveled holidays and summer vacation to visit parents Dr. Charles and Grace Tupper and Elmer and Reba Blossom in the San Diego area. There were camping trips and scouting activities and then her Master of Reading Specialist degree to earn.

Grace's stellar teaching career endeared her to many students from Crocker Elementary, Sam Brannan, J. F. Kennedy, Boys Ranch, Fremont Adult School and Sacramento State. Students returned to visit her in her cherished Land Park home for many years. A creative and gracious host for parties, card games, family reunions, round tables, and neighborhood drop-ins Grace loved being involved in any conversation. One learned to raise a hand for a turn to participate.

Grace and her devoted husband Tom Licursi traveled the world and maintained a network of friendships reaching back to early years. Predeceased by brother, Dr. John Tupper, founding Dean of U.C. Davis Medical Center she hosted early faculty recruits and their families as they came 'Out West' to see the little town that wanted a medical school. With great pride she and sister-in-law Mary Tupper watched as U.C. Davis grew its facility.

Grace was a bright woman, avid reader, prolific letter writer, witty conversationalist and imaginative raconteur. There was never a dull moment when she was around. Her zest for life is embedded forever in our family and will live on in all those she touched.

Mrs. Grace Licursi leaves behind her loving husband Tom 'Tomasso' Licursi, brother Dr. John Tupper (deceased) , brother Dr. Robert Tupper (Jan Strait and late Garland Benton Tupper), sister-in-law Mary Tupper, son Dr. John Blossom (Betsy McConnell), daughter Joanne Blossom (Robert Haltom), grandchildren Susanne McConnell-Blossom, Cody Blossom-Haltom, Tricia Van Klaveren, Kristen Rivard, great-grand-daughter Andrea Rivard, nieces and nephews Libby Tupper Smith (Tom), Dr. John Tupper (Heather), Meredith Tupper (Jann), Catherine Duso, Robert Tupper, Jr. (Randi) (both deceased), Elizabeth Tupper (deceased), William Tupper, Thomas Tupper (Colleen), Jerry Blossom (Carol), Stan Blossom (Kate), and Steven Blossom (Lilian).

All are welcome to a memorial celebration at 11:00AM February 18, 2014 at George L. Klumpp Chapel of Flowers, 2691 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA.
