Born in Sacramento, CA on September 17, 1964, Debora Diane Burkhalter passed away peacefully in her home on March 1, 2014, surrounded by her family. Although treatments for breast cancer took away parts of her body, vision and ultimately her life, it never took away her desire to live and love. Survived by her six-year old son Parker Smith, husband Daniel Smith, nieces and nephew Lindsey, Maggie, Timmy, and Mikaela, mother Patricia Secco, stepmother Shirley Burkhalter, sister Brenda Voet, brother Thomas Burkhalter, brother-in-law Leonard Voet, and sister-in-law Jennifer Burkhalter. Preceded in death by her father John Burkhalter. Debbie was a great mom and loving wife who put her family first. We will never forget the hours she spent in the pool with Parker and Dan, or the times she explored the auction where she had a knack for spotting hidden treasure. Debbie was always there to listen, wasn't afraid to be silly, and could turn even the worst news into something to laugh about. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m. at her sister's home 1305 La Sierra Dr., Sacramento.
