SAVALA, Dolores "Lola" Ledesma entered into rest peacefully and with love on June 5, 2014. Lola was born in Alvarado, CA (now Union City) on August 23, 1927 to Angel and Tomasa Ledesma. Part of a family of migrant farm workers, she met her husband, George ""Goyo"" Savala, in one of her father's labor camps. After moving several times, they eventually settled in Bryte, CA (now West Sacramento). She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers Ascension, Angel, Delfino, and Marcelino Ledesma. Lola is survived by siblings Adelaida Noriega and Johnny Ledesma; her beloved daughters Hope Anaya and Sarah Najarro; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. She created a legacy of serving others from cooking meals for farm workers to working with the Broderick Christian Center's Christmas Basket Project. For many years Lola helped the Senior Meals Program at the W Sac Senior Center and was involved with the St Vincent De Paul food locker and clothes closet at the Holy Cross Church. She was a permanent fixture on the youth soccer and baseball fields, helping at the snack bar and cheering for multiple generations of children within the community who affectionately called her, "Grandma Lola." Her beautiful smile was yours to keep. Lola's life will be celebrated with a Rosary on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 7:00 PM at River Cities Funeral Chapel , 910 Soule Street, West Sacramento, CA. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1321 Anna Street, West Sacramento, CA at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.
