Carrie Mae Evans, 78, was born July 13, 1935, in Bryan, TX, to Jodie Turner and Willie Mae Jones. She passed away on June 13, 2014. Her final days were spent surrounded by loved ones at the home she and husband George had resided in for more than 50 years. Carrie was a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She was employed by Greenhaven (Eskaton) Convalescent Home for more than 20 years. She had been an active volunteer with the Freeport Manor Neighborhood Association and a dependable member of St. Robert Church choir. She enjoyed watching soap operas and game shows and completing crossword puzzles. Spending time with family brought her the most joy. Carrie is survived by six children: Joseph Michael Evans of Sacramento; George Evans, Jr. of Reno, NV; Donna (Greg) Burke of El Dorado Hills; Cynthia Moseley (David) of Rancho Cordova; Warren Evans of Elk Grove and Karon (Tyrone) Pollard of San Diego; first cousin Edna Mae Bradley of Roswell, NM; step-sister Gloria Turner of Gardena; five brothers-in-law and seven sisters-in-law; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins. Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by husband George, parents Willie Mae Avant and Jodie Turner; first cousin Arthur Butler, Sr. of San Francisco, stepmother Lee Turner of Gardena, mother-in-law Georgianna Evans & Amos Evans of New Orleans, LA as well as 4 brothers-in-law, 3 sisters-in-law and three daughters-in-law. The visitation will be held June 19 from 4-6 pm at Klumpp Chapel of Flowers at 2691 Riverside Bl. followed by the recitation of the Rosary. The funeral mass will take place June 20 at 10 am at St. Robert Church at 2243 Irvin Way in Sacramento.
