McGILL, Clare Mae
85, of Pollock Pines, CA, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Kaiser South, in Sacramento. Clare was born in Stege, CA on June 20, 1927, a daughter of the late Alvia Molander (Davis) and Gustav Gordon.
Clare was a 1945 graduate of C.K. McClatchy High school in Sacramento. Clare lived in Pollock Pines for the last 41 years. She worked for the State of California advancing through various departments and retiring after 19 years of service in 1985 as a supervisor at DMV.
In retirement she enjoyed traveling by various means: trains, planes, boats and automobiles; she just loved to go. She participated in the Widow and Widowers group in Pollock Pines, going on many trips with them and was preparing for their next cruise.
Clare was very involved in her community; she was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge, Chapter 1979 for the past 5 years, International Training for Communications (ITC) for 18 years, and was very active volunteering at the Pollock Pines Community Center.
Clare is survived by her sons Bill, and his wife, Suzi Howe, of Sacramento; Jack Howe, of Sacramento; grandchildren, Tristan Howe, Janet Smith, Natalie Howe, Gwendolyn Howe; sister, Judy Dent and sister-in-law, Edie Gordon. She was preceded by her first husband, Jack Howe; second husband, Daniel McGill and son, Richard Howe.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation Friday, November 30, 2012, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Daneri Mortuary Chapel, 415 Broadway, Jackson, CA 95642 followed by a graveside Service at 1:30 pm at Sunset View Cemetery, 10200 Hwy 88 in Jackson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of donor's choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.danerimortuary.com and signing the guest book. A brief reception at the American Legion Hall in Jackson will follow the Graveside Service. Clare's family thanks the devoted Kaiser South Sacramento staff who cared for her at the end of her life.
