Dec. 15, 1933 - Jan. 16, 2013
Resident of Folsom, California While great-grandchildren played quietly at his bedside and adult family members gathered around, James (Jim) ascended the Gates of Heaven.
A Massachusetts native, this kind, generous, patient, strong, caring gentleman of the highest morals, served his country in the United States Air Force 24 years, flying in B-29, B-36 and B52 aircraft, with more than 100 combat missions above Viet Nam. Among his other military accomplishments, his crew, piloted by Major Edward Jones, Florida (deceased), and navigated by Major Bruce Siggins, retired, Florida, achieved high marks in the Strategic Air Command Bombing Competition in Spokane, Washington in the mid l960's. Jim, a Shriner, became a Mason while on active duty in Wakkanai, Japan. Upon retirement, he completed his degree in social welfare at San Francisco State University and worked with veterans through the State of California. Later, with his wife, Carol, whom he married at Travis Air Force Base in l954, he traveled throughout six continents and in all regions of the United States as photographer for their stories which focused on disabled travel.
