A fourth-generation Sacramentan, Marian passed away Feb 19, 2013 at Kaiser Permanente, Vacaville, at age 91. Born Nov 22, 1921, she was the only child of Melville Francis Doyle and Lola Marian Doyle (Norris). A graduate of Sacramento High School, Sacramento College and University of California, Los Angeles, Marian worked in advertising at department stores in Sacramento and the Bay Area, including Capwell's and Rhodes. She was a freelance fashion illustrator for The Sacramento Bee in the days when the paper published a "women's section." She was married 51 years to Keith Wendell Lamb, a Sacramento attorney. They lived in Carmichael, Nevada City, Fairfield and Vallejo, where Marian volunteered weekly at the library restoring book bindings. For six years, she resided at Merrill Gardens in Vacaville, where she was editor of the monthly newsletter. She was an artist, writer, photographer, reader, computer enthusiast, pool player, Wii bowler, generous soul and student of life. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Scott Norman Lamb. Survived by her daughter, Christine Stern (Leo) of Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Carole Lamb of Davis; grandsons Zack Stern and Kevin Lamb; granddaughter, Alison Awes (Zurich); sister-in-law Jeanne Artson (David) of Sonoma and many nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life on March 23, 2013, 11 a.m. at Merrill Gardens, 709 Yellowstone Drive, Vacaville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to The June Stern Family Foundation for Children with Dyslexia, 206 Central Ave S, Wayzata, MN 55391.
