After a fruitful life filled with love and success, on June 27th, 2013, Clyde Balaam passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 86.
Born in 1927 in Albion, California, he was the eldest son of a railroad man and school teacher. Clyde attended McClatchy High School and graduated from University of California Berkeley and Hastings Law School. He married Eleanor Davis in 1952 and spent 53 years together until her death in 2006.
Clyde spent most of his career at Aerojet in Rancho Cordova. As President of Aerojets Solid Propulsion Division, and serving as Aerojets Corporate Director of Marketing, he negotiated and oversaw large aerospace and defense projects all over the world.
In 1986, Clyde retired from Aerojet and started a new career in educational reform for children. Clyde pioneered teaching techniques based on a students learning abilities. Many of these techniques are used today by educational institutions nationwide.
He is survived by his 2 sons; Jeffery Balaam of Lincoln, CA and Chris Balaam of Carmichael, CA, his sister Beverly Macdonald of Mill Valley, CA and John Balaam of Meadow Vista, CA. Clyde has 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
