She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Roy Arthur Shurrum; and sisters Lora Hurst, Alice Lewis, Gladys Haystead and brother George Brown. Ruth was the oldest of seven and was the family historian and storyteller, always able to reminisce about family and friends, especially their migration from Minnesota to California, WW2 in Texas, farming in Idaho and family get-togethers. She is also known by all as always finding a kind word for everyone and enjoying meeting new people as well as preparing the best apple pie and divinity.
Ruth was an elementary school teacher in Idaho and, after taking time out in her 50s to return to college for a California credential, in Sacramento. She was also a farmer's wife, a fulltime primary occupation.
There will be a Celebration of Life service and lunch at Capital Christian Center, her longtime church, on July 15 at 1:00 PM.
