KURASHIGE, Stanley S.
A fond Aloha to our special husband, father, grandfather, Bronze Star and Purple Heart recipient, who passed away on September 29, 2013. Born on March 26, 1929 in Naalehu, Hawaii to parents Tom and Tokiko. Stanley grew up working on a sugar cane plantation. He was a three-sport athlete and valedictorian. After graduating from Pahala High School, he went to trade school in Honolulu to become an auto-mechanic. He was drafted into the army and fought in the Korean War. He finished his education in Sacramento, married Elaine Wong, and had three children. He worked as a draftsman at Aerojet, then at SMUD until he retired after 20 years. Stanley found joy in supporting his children and grandchildren's activities, as well as teaching himself ukelele and playing golf with his hawaiian buddies.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife Elaine, sister Grace, son Keith (Louise), daughters Denise Tahara (Randy) and Julie Ota (Jeff), and grandchildren Tricia, Scott, Troy, Kelly, Haley, and Dillon.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 5, 2013 from 1pm-4pm at the Chinese Community Church located at 5600 Gilgunn Way Sacramento, CA 95822. Please wear Hawaiian attire or his favorite color Blue. In lieu of flowers, donation to Chinese Community Church, Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation, and the Asian Community Center.
