Mike passed away peacefully at home in the company of his loving wife, Barbara Greenwood, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at just 64 years of age.

Mike was born in 1949 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area (Belmont). After receiving degrees from both UC Davis and Michigan State University, Mike returned to California and moved to Sacramento where he had a successful and rewarding 30+ year career with the California Department of Justice. Most noteworthy was his development and implementation of the state's Megan's Law sex registrant internet site giving members of the public the ability to check on the identity and location of sex registrants that may be living in their communities.

Mike's love of the outdoors was exemplified by his history of rafting, hiking, running, and most importantly, his love of cycling. Over the past twenty-five years, Mike and Barbara have cycled all over the world including marathon cycling adventures across the United States. Cycling has provided Mike with an extended family and a host of close biking friendships.

Preceded by the deaths of his father and mother, Mike is survived by his wife, Barbara Greenwood, his sister Kristin Jenne Albright (Ron), his brother Allan Potts (Tammy), and nephew Scott Broderick.

The family is extremely grateful to the Kaiser doctors, nurses and Hospice staff for their devoted care of Mike and his wife.

Friends and family will be contacted for a celebration of Mike's life to be held at a later date.

Remembrances may be made to the American River Parkway Foundation (ARPF), the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA), or the Sacramento SPCA.
